Amaya **

Michelin starred Indian restaurant and well deserved. Amaya's cuisine is a fusion of contemporary and traditional Indian food. With its open grill kitchen, unique flavors, and trendy atmosphere, Amaya was my favorite Indian restaurant in London and should not be missed.



Andina **

$$, Latin American, Tapas, Shoreditch

Andina is an all day restaurant serving healthy food and drinks inspired by modern Peruvian recipes. Located in the heart of Shoreditch, Andina is perfect for gluten free eaters as well as most of their dishes are made from quinoa. I recommend the Quinoa burger! Soo good! Come here with a group of friends to start your night off right with fresh food and creative cocktails. I also recommend coming for breakfast and trying one of their fresh cold-pressed juices and smoothies.




Beach Blanket Babylon

The decor is something to take note of as the restaurant is designed as an old English mansion filled with elaborate Rococo decorations. Beach Blanket Babylon functions as a club, bar, and restaurant. The seasonal and modern European cuisine makes it great for large group celebrations.



Bea's of Bloomsbury

Bea's of Bloomsbury is a charming cafe perfect for a quick dessert on the go or for a reasonable (20 pound) sit down high tea that caters to those with a sweet tooth. Bea's offers a wide variety of tea as well as decadent treats including cakes, cupcakes, breads, and scones. Definitely try their famous Townies! A hybrid of a brownie and a tart.



Beigel Bake

Open 24/7, classic bagel shop. Family run business and always busy. The bagels are unique as they are broiled before baked. I recommend the hot salted beef bagel with mustard (most popular) if you are craving savory, and the bagel with nutella if you are craving sweet, and on Fridays definitely get the large warm challah for only 1 pound.



Benares

An upscale Indian restaurant. Benares serves a modern Indian cuisine with a contemporary British twist.

Ben's Cookies **

Ben's Cookies has many locations throughout London and definitely worth a visit for gourmet cookies. Ben's Cookies is known to use fresh ingredients of pure chocolates, unsalted butter, sugar, free-range eggs and wheat all from local producers. Crisp on the outside, but soft and chewy inside, with gigantic chunks of melted chocolate.



Benugo *

A great reasonable lunch spot with healthy, artisan food. If you're in a rush grab one of the premade salads, sandwiches, or soups. With more time, I definitely recommend custom making your own sandwich. Benugo offers a wide variety of breads, meats, veggies, and spreads so you can create your own personal sandwich. At some locations students receive a 20% discount.




Borough Market **

If you are a food lover, go here! It will be heaven! One of the largest and oldest food markets in London selling a large variety of gourmet foods from all over the world. It is split into 2 parts selling savory breads, cheeses, meats, sauces & spreads, produce, juices and desserts. Definitely come here hungry because you will sample a variety of amazing homemade food. Then venture to the lunch stands to buy an ethnically delicious meal. The lunch stands cover all cuisines- Italian, Indian, Caribbean, Asian, Mediterranean, to much much more. My favorite lunch spots are Soul Food (Carribean), La Tua Pasta (Itallian), Kappacasein (gourmet grilled cheese). Also sample the pesto spread at Borough Olives, soo good. Open Wednesday through Saturday, but beware it does get pretty busy.








Box Park

A two-story Pop-up mall that has an eclectic mix of trendy shops, bars, and restaurants varying in unique cuisines. Offers outside and inside seating overlooking the young, hip city of Shoreditch. My favorite restaurants are: Falafelicious, Chop'd, La Catrina, and Thai & Lao Street Food.



Ceviche

$$$, Latin American, Tapas, Soho

Ceviche is the sister restaurant of Andina. It has a young, trendy vibe and functions as a tapas restaurant, so it's a great place for sharing with a big group of people. The menu offers a wide range of seafood, skewers, salads, side dishes, and pisco cocktails. I recommend the sea bass ceviche and diver caught king scallops.



Chin Chin Labs

$$, Dessert, Camden

London's first and only liquid nitrogen ice cream. Located right near Camden Market. Chin Chin Labs offers a very unique experience as you watch the creation of your ice cream right in front of you. The fresh and super smooth ice cream tastes exceptional and the unique flavors change every week. All the toppings are homemade too.



Chop'd

Chop'd is a fresh and healthy salad shop that uses only locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. You have the option to create your own salad by selecting some of their seasonal ingredients and homemade dressings, or you can chose a premade salad. Besides salads, Chop'd also offers soups, stews, and wraps.



Churchill Arms

Built in 1750, Churchill Arms has that traditional pub atmosphere. However, what truly makes this pub unique is that a Thai restaurant is located in the back within a greenhouse setting. The tables are surrounded with plants, trinkets and flowers. The Thai menu is authentic, offering noodle dishes, curry, rice dishes, and stir-fry.



Cinnamon Club

Set in the historic former Westminster library, Cinnamon Club is a classy modern Indian restaurant that serves authentic Indian food with memorable drinks.


Cocomaya

Cocomaya has a modern Parisian feel with hundreds of homemade pastries and delicious coffees and teas. They also have amazing gluten-free options. This quaint cafe will not disappoint. Stop by for a few pastries on the go or try their take on London afternoon tea. The seating area is limited so off-peak times are recommended.



Comptoir Libanais

Comptoir Libanais is a casual, vibrant, and colorful restaurant serving modern Lebanese home-style dishes. There are many different menu options including, dips, mezee bites (finger foods), homemade flatbreads, tagines, wraps, salads, and pastries. They also serve homemade lemonades.



The Connaught

Came to the hotel for high tea, and it did not disappoint. The walls are covered with windows creating and open and bright atmosphere. It is more of a traditional high tea experience with a great selection of teas, and British inspired homemade finger sandwiches, desserts, and scones.



Coya **

Coya is a modern, upscale Peruvian restaurant and bar that includes a ceviche bar, open charcoal grill, and central kitchen. The authentic and savory Latin-American ingredients will make you wanting more. I recommend the Sea bass ceviche, tuna ceviche, Josper Octopus, and Josper corn (basically everything is delicious, get a lot to try!).



Cycle Lab and Juice Bar

Great juice and smoothies! Made with all real fruit and fresh ingredients. A great healthy start to your day. They also serve crepes. I recommend the Acai smoothie and Detox juice.


Dark Sugars Chocolates

Great authentic chocolate store located in the heart of Shoreditch on Bricklane. A family-run business with friendly staff. The chocolate is made from scratch right in the store and inspired from family Ghanaian recipes. There are so many unique rich flavors within each chocolate, all are a must try. Definitely recommend filling a bag with as many different pieces and get a hot chocolate or mocha to take away because they are also made from scratch with fresh made chocolate. Perfect for dark chocolate lovers!





Falafalicious

A different, healthier take on falafel. Located on the 2nd floor of Boxpark Shoreditch, an outdoor eating area filled with small ethnic food restaurants. With the option between falafel or chicken schnitzel fill your box with the many different salads Falafalicious offers (pasta salad, aubergine couscous, olive salad, etc.) Top it off with some hummus, tahini, and their homemade vinaigrettes. Enjoy it with a side of pita and if the weather is nice, eat outside on the long benches.




Fortnum & Mason

A unique and beautifully decorated store. Renowned for selling teas as well as fine foods, wines, and dish sets. Inside the massive store there are five restaurants including eateries, an ice cream parlor, and afternoon tea. Very touristy.


Gilgamesh

$$$, Japanese, Pan-Asian, Camden

A Pan-Asian restaurant located in the heart of Camden Market. The high ceilings of Egyptian decor truly makes for a dinning experience. At night, this restaurant transforms into a club that holds 500 people. The menu offers a wide selection of options from sushi to chicken curries. I recommend selecting a few dishes from each section of the menu and sharing.



Grilling Greek Food Cart

The truck travels all around London and serves great Greek inspired burritos. Greek tzatziki chicken with your choice of sides and salads wrapped in a homemade warm pita.


La Creperie de Hampstead

Best crepes in London! It even gives Paris a run for its money. They have both savory and sweet crepes. They melt the Belgian chocolate bars right in front of you. I recommend the sweet crepes, and I always get dark Belgian chocolate, banana, and coconut, so amazing! Hampstead is right outside of London in zone 2/3 but it is worth the trip if you have time. Only open Thursday-Sunday.




Hummingbird Bakery

Hummingbird bakery serves handmade American style cupcakes, cakes, pies, and brownies. It also has a great selection of teas and coffees. The most popular item is the red velvet cupcake.


Jamie's Italian

$$, Italian, City of London- Bank, Canary Wharf, Covent Garden, Islington, Piccadilly, Shepherd's Bush

One of Jamie Oliver's (famous British chef) restaurants. The Italian dishes are on the lighter side as Jamie has opted to only use fresh and healthy ingredients sourced from Italy. The menu is quite extensive so this is a good place for picky eaters.


King of Falafel

$, Middle Eastern, Quick Eats, Holborn, Clerkenwell, Leather Lane

If you're on the go, come here for a quick yet worthwhile falafel wrap. Located on leather lane (a street filled with ethnic food carts and restaurants) near the Holborn and Chancery Lane tube stations. The warm pita wrap is filled with two different seasoned Mediterranean salads, sauces, and your choice of falafel, chicken/lamb kebab, or roasted seasonal vegetables. Try to go on off peak hours, as there is always a long line during the lunch breaks.




Laduree

The best macarons in London! There are so many flavors to chose from, all with a unique and satisfying taste. My favorite is vanilla but try them all! Laduree also serves afternoon tea in its Covent Garden and Harrods (Knightsbridge) locations.


Leon

Their motto is "Naturally Fast Food" and that's a pretty accurate statement. They have everything from a kale and peanut salad, to sweet potato falafel wraps, to Thai green chicken curry, and all of the dishes are marked with symbols to note if they are gluten-free, vegetarian, low-fat, and so on.



L'eto Caffe

A cozy cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. L'eto Caffe is known for their handmade cakes, but it also serves fresh salads and mains that can either be eaten in or taken to go.


Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea at Sanderson Hotel

$$$, High Tea, Oxford Circus

Alice in Wonderland themed high tea serving multi-colored finger sandwiches and other Wonderland inspired pastries and desserts.


Mango Tree

$$, Indian, London Bridge

Mango tree is more of a local restaurant off the main streets of London Bridge station. The prices are reasonable and the Indian food is prepared in a contemporary style. I recommend the Haryali Chicken Tikka- Chicken tikka with green chili and mint.



Momo *

$$$, Middle Eastern, Moroccan, High Tea, Mayfair/Piccadilly

Best Moroccan food I've had! The decor is very detailed making you truly feel like you've been transported to Morocco. I recommend getting a few dishes to share. My favorites are the hummus and pita, chicken couscous, and chicken tagine. It also has great drinks and Moroccan tea, which can be enjoyed, in their tearoom.



Moro

A great restaurant if you're looking for unusual and distinctive dishes that are full with flavor and spices. Moro's recipes are a combination of Mediterranean, Spanish and Middle-Eastern cuisines that will not disappoint.


Mugen

Great traditional Japanese food. The fish is always fresh. You have the option to order a la carte or get a set meal for a practical price. Many business and work meetings here.


Natural Kitchen

$$, Quick Eats, Holborn, Marylebone- Oxford Circus, City of London- Bank

A trendy shop, which specializes in organic, artisan, and sustainably, sourced food. Inside the shop there's a cafe upstairs, butchery downstairs, as well as juice bar and coffee shop. Perfect for a quick and healthy bite.


Nopi **

$$$$, Middle Eastern, Soho

From Israeli born chef, Yotam Ottolenghi. He sells his cookbook at William Sanoma. Ottolenghi specializes in healthy and fresh Mediterranean food. Open for brunch and dinner. The menu changes often due to what's fresh per season. I definitely recommend getting a few dishes to share. Nopi's unique ingredient combinations make for savory vegetables, fishes, and meats. For healthy eaters, this should not be missed and it is right by the theater district so perfect for a pre theater dinner.




Ottolenghi *

From Israel born chef, Yotal Ottoloenghi. Ottolenghi specializes in healthy and fresh Mediterranean food. These shops opposed to his Nopi restaurant are much more suitable for a quick meal. There is a huge display of many different salads, protein dishes, and beautifully crafted desserts great for on the go or to eat in. The menu is split into 2 columns to order cold dishes from the counter (salads, etc) and hot dishes from the kitchen. They recommend 2-3 dishes per person. Great for sharing and make sure to try one of their homemade and delicious desserts. The dishes change daily so don't hesitate to come back more than once a week!






Pilpel

Create your own falafel salad bowl, or falafel pita sandwich, Lots of different salads, ingredients, and sauces to choose from. The falafel is very good, definitely up to par with what you will find in Israel. Great for a quick bite for lunch.


Pizza East

Trendy atmosphere with industrial decor, serving fresh and homemade Italian food. I recommend getting a few pizzas to share with the table.


Pizza Express

A chain restaurant located throughout London. The menu offers many different options to prepare your pizza, from classic to calzone to romana. There is even a section of pizzas under 500 calories with a side salad placed in the middle of the pizza. Great gluten free options as well (gluten free pizza dough). I recommend going here with a big group looking for a fun dinner out but not too expensive.




The Port House

Traditional Spanish tapas served in a wine cellar atmosphere. The Port House serves a tasty and eclectic selection of foods and wines.


Pret A Manger

Quick and natural coffee and food shop. Serves tasty coffee and prepackaged snacks and lunches for on the go. Modern and clean atmosphere making it a great spot to do work or catch up with friends.


Punjab

A casual restaurant with great authentic and traditional Indian food for a reasonable price. Be sure to order the chicken tikka and naan bread as well as some vegetables and rice sides to share.


The Rajasthan

There are 3 locations located throughout the financial district of London. If you are looking for reasonable and authentic, traditional Indian food, this place is for you. More of a casual place so I recommend going for lunch, but it does get pretty busy with businessmen on their lunch break.



Recipease

One of Jamie Oliver's (famous British chef) restaurants. The restaurant is on the second floor and offers a unique experience, as the center of the room is a cooking school. The first floor is a kitchen shop to buy cooking essentials (reminds me of William Sanoma). The food is healthy and natural, and great for a light meal.



Rich Mix Cafe- Movenpick

$, Dessert, Shoreditch

Located next to the cinema in Shoreditch. Get the movenpick ice cream. Amazing gourmet Switzerland ice cream. Perfect for a movie night and dessert.


Roka *

$$$$, Japanese, Charlotte Street- Oxford Circus, Canary Wharf, Mayfair

Modern and upscale Japanese restaurant specializing in fresh sushi and robatayaki (open-charcoal grilled food). The fish is of very high quality, so I definitely recommend getting a sashimi plate. The dishes are on the small side so get a few hot dishes (robata) and cold dishes to share with the table.



Rossa Pomodoro

$$, Italian, Camden, Chelsea, Covent Garden, Shoreditch, Oxford Circus

Great trendy, casual restaurant if you are looking for authentic Italian pizza. All ingredients are imported straight from Italy. There are 8 locations throughout London.


Sketch

This restaurant is all about the experience. You are dining in what feels like a modern art gallery. Each room has a different theme and the interior is filled with unique and eccentric art pieces. The food is a combination of a French and Moroccan cuisine. The afternoon tea is also not your traditional British tea and more of a modern European tea. I recommend this place if you are looking for a different dinning or tea experience. Definitely check out the bathrooms though, they are egg-shaped standing pods on an elevated white platform.





Snowflake *

Best gelato I've had in London! All the gelato and sorbets are homemade made with natural and organic ingredients, definitely Italy quality. My favorite flavors are hazelnut, cinnamon, and coffee. They also serve a full dessert menu including crepes, waffles, and sundaes.



Soul Food- Borough Market

My favorite lunch spot at Borough Market. Soul food offers savory, simple Caribbean food that is full of spices and flavor. I always get the Jerk chicken with the aromatic rice and peas. Made right in front of you so it's as fresh as you can get.


Spice Market **

$$$, Japanese, Thai, Southeast Asian, Soho, Leicester Square

Inspired by Southeast Asian street food, Spice Market is the perfect restaurant for an adventurous big group of people. They serve family style, which is great because you can try so many different items on the menu. I recommend everything, everything we got from meats to fishes to vegetables were superb. Ask the waiter what they recommend and you will not be disappointed. They have this restaurant in New York as well in the meatpacking district.




Sumosan

$$$$, Japanese, Mayfair

Another upscale Japanese restaurant. I prefer Zuma and Roka, however if cannot get into those this is a great alternative for fresh and high quality tasting fish and sushi.


Sushi Samba *

$$$$, Japanese, Latin American, City of London- Bank

Located on the 38th floor of the Heron Tower in the financial district of London, Sushi Samba offers spectacular views of the entire city of London. The cuisine is a combination of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian making for a unique and flavorful meal. It's a bit pricy but this is definitely a dinning experience.



Tibits

Tibits offers a great range of carefully sourced seasonal vegetarian dishes influenced by Asian, Indian, and Mediterranean cuisines. You simply turn up and find a table, no booking required. You then grab a plate and walk around the food boat consisting of more than 40 options. You chose exactly what you want and pay by weight. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.




Timber Yard

A great quaint cafe with a few locations throughout London. Timberyard offers specialty tea, coffee and artisan food including original pastries, salads and sandwiches. Very comfortable seating with WiFi making it a great place to relax with friends or enjoy a quiet working space.



Union Jacks

$$, English, Italian, Covent Garden

One of Jamie Oliver's (famous British chef) restaurants. Located right in the heart of the Covent Garden Jubilee market. Union Jacks serves a healthier British cuisine using artisan and organic ingredients. The wood-fired pizza and salads were very good.



Wagamama

$, Japanese, Thai, Pan-Asian, Quick Eats, Many Locations

Pan-Asian style menu consists of ramen, teppanyaki, curry dishes, and donburi. They also serve fresh juices. Wagamama is a good dinning spot if you are looking for a very reasonably priced, casual, Asian meal.


Wahaca

Wahaca is a trendy and vibrant restaurant specializing in locally sourced and healthier Mexican street food. The restaurant is downstairs with a hip bar upstairs. I recommend getting lots of their smaller sized dishes to share. If you plan to get a drink, definitely get a margarita.



Wasabi

$, Japanese, Quick Eats, Many Locations

If you are craving a quick sushi fix and on a budget, this place is for you. Wasabi has a modern and clean design and falls under the category of naturally fast food. Offering an assortment of sushi, Japanese bento dishes (various chicken and rice bowls), and soups.



Zucca **

$$$, Italian, London Bridge

My favorite Italian restaurant in London! It is off the beaten path and south of the Thames River but definitely worth the trip if you have time (get off at London Bridge station and it's a 10 min walk). The menu changes weekly due to what's fresh and seasonal. Be adventurous here because everything you will get is mouthwatering. The bread and pasta are made in house; and all the mains (fishes, meats, seafood) are prepared very creatively and tastes superb.




Zuma **

$$$$, Japanese, Knightsbridge

My favorite Japanese restaurant in London! A very trendy and upscale restaurant. The menu offers a wide range of traditional and contemporary Japanese dishes from sushi & sashimi to robata grilled foods to original Zuma dishes. All the dishes are made to perfection with the highest quality of fish seasoned with delicious homemade sauces. I prefer going during lunch- less busy and not as loud. Regardless, you need to make a reservation.
