A more modern take on a pub. The food and cocktail menu offer a healthy alternative to the traditional pubs on every street corner. The eclectic menu has a calorie count on various food items and there are always monthly food and drink specials. Reasonably priced and great for dinner and drinks out with a group of friends.
Ben's Cookies **
Ben's Cookies has many locations throughout London and definitely worth a visit for gourmet cookies. Ben's Cookies is known to use fresh ingredients of pure chocolates, unsalted butter, sugar, free-range eggs and wheat all from local producers. Crisp on the outside, but soft and chewy inside, with gigantic chunks of melted chocolate.
A great reasonable lunch spot with healthy, artisan food. If you're in a rush grab one of the premade salads, sandwiches, or soups. With more time, I definitely recommend custom making your own sandwich. Benugo offers a wide variety of breads, meats, veggies, and spreads so you can create your own personal sandwich. At some locations students receive a 20% discount.
One of Jamie Oliver's (famous British chef) restaurants. The Italian dishes are on the lighter side as Jamie has opted to only use fresh and healthy ingredients sourced from Italy. The menu is quite extensive so this is a good place for picky eaters.
The best macarons in London! There are so many flavors to chose from, all with a unique and satisfying taste. My favorite is vanilla but try them all! Laduree also serves afternoon tea in its Covent Garden and Harrods (Knightsbridge) locations.
Their motto is "Naturally Fast Food" and that's a pretty accurate statement. They have everything from a kale and peanut salad, to sweet potato falafel wraps, to Thai green chicken curry, and all of the dishes are marked with symbols to note if they are gluten-free, vegetarian, low-fat, and so on.
A chain restaurant located throughout London. The menu offers many different options to prepare your pizza, from classic to calzone to romana. There is even a section of pizzas under 500 calories with a side salad placed in the middle of the pizza. Great gluten free options as well (gluten free pizza dough). I recommend going here with a big group looking for a fun dinner out but not too expensive.
The Port House
Traditional Spanish tapas served in a wine cellar atmosphere. The Port House serves a tasty and eclectic selection of foods and wines.
Pret A Manger
Quick and natural coffee and food shop. Serves tasty coffee and prepackaged snacks and lunches for on the go. Modern and clean atmosphere making it a great spot to do work or catch up with friends.
A casual restaurant with great authentic and traditional Indian food for a reasonable price. Be sure to order the chicken tikka and naan bread as well as some vegetables and rice sides to share.
Great trendy, casual restaurant if you are looking for authentic Italian pizza. All ingredients are imported straight from Italy. There are 8 locations throughout London.
A great quaint cafe with a few locations throughout London. Timberyard offers specialty tea, coffee and artisan food including original pastries, salads and sandwiches. Very comfortable seating with WiFi making it a great place to relax with friends or enjoy a quiet working space.
One of Jamie Oliver's (famous British chef) restaurants. Located right in the heart of the Covent Garden Jubilee market. Union Jacks serves a healthier British cuisine using artisan and organic ingredients. The wood-fired pizza and salads were very good.
Wahaca is a trendy and vibrant restaurant specializing in locally sourced and healthier Mexican street food. The restaurant is downstairs with a hip bar upstairs. I recommend getting lots of their smaller sized dishes to share. If you plan to get a drink, definitely get a margarita.
If you are craving a quick sushi fix and on a budget, this place is for you. Wasabi has a modern and clean design and falls under the category of naturally fast food. Offering an assortment of sushi, Japanese bento dishes (various chicken and rice bowls), and soups.
