Bea's of Bloomsbury
Bea's of Bloomsbury is a charming cafe perfect for a quick dessert on the go or for a reasonable (20 pound) sit down high tea that caters to those with a sweet tooth. Bea's offers a wide variety of tea as well as decadent treats including cakes, cupcakes, breads, and scones. Definitely try their famous Townies! A hybrid of a brownie and a tart.
Open 24/7, classic bagel shop. Family run business and always busy. The bagels are unique as they are broiled before baked. I recommend the hot salted beef bagel with mustard (most popular) if you are craving savory, and the bagel with nutella if you are craving sweet, and on Fridays definitely get the large warm challah for only 1 pound.
Ben's Cookies **
Ben's Cookies has many locations throughout London and definitely worth a visit for gourmet cookies. Ben's Cookies is known to use fresh ingredients of pure chocolates, unsalted butter, sugar, free-range eggs and wheat all from local producers. Crisp on the outside, but soft and chewy inside, with gigantic chunks of melted chocolate.
Borough Market **
If you are a food lover, go here! It will be heaven! One of the largest and oldest food markets in London selling a large variety of gourmet foods from all over the world. It is split into 2 parts selling savory breads, cheeses, meats, sauces & spreads, produce, juices and desserts. Definitely come here hungry because you will sample a variety of amazing homemade food. Then venture to the lunch stands to buy an ethnically delicious meal. The lunch stands cover all cuisines- Italian, Indian, Caribbean, Asian, Mediterranean, to much much more. My favorite lunch spots are Soul Food (Carribean), La Tua Pasta (Itallian), Kappacasein (gourmet grilled cheese). Also sample the pesto spread at Borough Olives, soo good. Open Wednesday through Saturday, but beware it does get pretty busy.
Chin Chin Labs
London's first and only liquid nitrogen ice cream. Located right near Camden Market. Chin Chin Labs offers a very unique experience as you watch the creation of your ice cream right in front of you. The fresh and super smooth ice cream tastes exceptional and the unique flavors change every week. All the toppings are homemade too.
Cocomaya has a modern Parisian feel with hundreds of homemade pastries and delicious coffees and teas. They also have amazing gluten-free options. This quaint cafe will not disappoint. Stop by for a few pastries on the go or try their take on London afternoon tea. The seating area is limited so off-peak times are recommended.
Cycle Lab and Juice Bar
Great juice and smoothies! Made with all real fruit and fresh ingredients. A great healthy start to your day. They also serve crepes. I recommend the Acai smoothie and Detox juice.
Dark Sugars Chocolates
Great authentic chocolate store located in the heart of Shoreditch on Bricklane. A family-run business with friendly staff. The chocolate is made from scratch right in the store and inspired from family Ghanaian recipes. There are so many unique rich flavors within each chocolate, all are a must try. Definitely recommend filling a bag with as many different pieces and get a hot chocolate or mocha to take away because they are also made from scratch with fresh made chocolate. Perfect for dark chocolate lovers!
Fortnum & Mason
A unique and beautifully decorated store. Renowned for selling teas as well as fine foods, wines, and dish sets. Inside the massive store there are five restaurants including eateries, an ice cream parlor, and afternoon tea. Very touristy.
La Creperie de Hampstead
Best crepes in London! It even gives Paris a run for its money. They have both savory and sweet crepes. They melt the Belgian chocolate bars right in front of you. I recommend the sweet crepes, and I always get dark Belgian chocolate, banana, and coconut, so amazing! Hampstead is right outside of London in zone 2/3 but it is worth the trip if you have time. Only open Thursday-Sunday.
Hummingbird bakery serves handmade American style cupcakes, cakes, pies, and brownies. It also has a great selection of teas and coffees. The most popular item is the red velvet cupcake.
The best macarons in London! There are so many flavors to chose from, all with a unique and satisfying taste. My favorite is vanilla but try them all! Laduree also serves afternoon tea in its Covent Garden and Harrods (Knightsbridge) locations.
A cozy cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. L'eto Caffe is known for their handmade cakes, but it also serves fresh salads and mains that can either be eaten in or taken to go.
From Israel born chef, Yotal Ottoloenghi. Ottolenghi specializes in healthy and fresh Mediterranean food. These shops opposed to his Nopi restaurant are much more suitable for a quick meal. There is a huge display of many different salads, protein dishes, and beautifully crafted desserts great for on the go or to eat in. The menu is split into 2 columns to order cold dishes from the counter (salads, etc) and hot dishes from the kitchen. They recommend 2-3 dishes per person. Great for sharing and make sure to try one of their homemade and delicious desserts. The dishes change daily so don't hesitate to come back more than once a week!
Rich Mix Cafe- Movenpick
Located next to the cinema in Shoreditch. Get the movenpick ice cream. Amazing gourmet Switzerland ice cream. Perfect for a movie night and dessert.
Best gelato I've had in London! All the gelato and sorbets are homemade made with natural and organic ingredients, definitely Italy quality. My favorite flavors are hazelnut, cinnamon, and coffee. They also serve a full dessert menu including crepes, waffles, and sundaes.
A great quaint cafe with a few locations throughout London. Timberyard offers specialty tea, coffee and artisan food including original pastries, salads and sandwiches. Very comfortable seating with WiFi making it a great place to relax with friends or enjoy a quiet working space.
