A more modern take on a pub. The food and cocktail menu offer a healthy alternative to the traditional pubs on every street corner. The eclectic menu has a calorie count on various food items and there are always monthly food and drink specials. Reasonably priced and great for dinner and drinks out with a group of friends.
Beach Blanket Babylon
The decor is something to take note of as the restaurant is designed as an old English mansion filled with elaborate Rococo decorations. Beach Blanket Babylon functions as a club, bar, and restaurant. The seasonal and modern European cuisine makes it great for large group celebrations.
Open 24/7, classic bagel shop. Family run business and always busy. The bagels are unique as they are broiled before baked. I recommend the hot salted beef bagel with mustard (most popular) if you are craving savory, and the bagel with nutella if you are craving sweet, and on Fridays definitely get the large warm challah for only 1 pound.
Borough Market **
If you are a food lover, go here! It will be heaven! One of the largest and oldest food markets in London selling a large variety of gourmet foods from all over the world. It is split into 2 parts selling savory breads, cheeses, meats, sauces & spreads, produce, juices and desserts. Definitely come here hungry because you will sample a variety of amazing homemade food. Then venture to the lunch stands to buy an ethnically delicious meal. The lunch stands cover all cuisines- Italian, Indian, Caribbean, Asian, Mediterranean, to much much more. My favorite lunch spots are Soul Food (Carribean), La Tua Pasta (Itallian), Kappacasein (gourmet grilled cheese). Also sample the pesto spread at Borough Olives, soo good. Open Wednesday through Saturday, but beware it does get pretty busy.
Built in 1750, Churchill Arms has that traditional pub atmosphere. However, what truly makes this pub unique is that a Thai restaurant is located in the back within a greenhouse setting. The tables are surrounded with plants, trinkets and flowers. The Thai menu is authentic, offering noodle dishes, curry, rice dishes, and stir-fry.
One of Jamie Oliver's (famous British chef) restaurants. The restaurant is on the second floor and offers a unique experience, as the center of the room is a cooking school. The first floor is a kitchen shop to buy cooking essentials (reminds me of William Sanoma). The food is healthy and natural, and great for a light meal.
One of Jamie Oliver's (famous British chef) restaurants. Located right in the heart of the Covent Garden Jubilee market. Union Jacks serves a healthier British cuisine using artisan and organic ingredients. The wood-fired pizza and salads were very good.
